Updated Wedding Restrictions for Ontario and Quebec

It was a really bad April Fool’s joke when Premiers Doug Ford and Francois Legault announced new restrictions for the Ottawa-Gatineau area. These new restrictions are more devastating to couples who wish to get married over the next few weeks. The OGWIA has updated is chart to reflect the changes.

Quebec’s Premier Francois Legault said that given the recent change in the epidemiological situation, special emergency measures will apply in the Gatineau from April 1 at 8 p.m. until April 12, 2021 at 5 a.m. In short, private indoor or outdoor gatherings are prohibited. A curfew is in effect from 8:00pm to 5:00am. Restaurant dinning rooms are closed. Curiously, florists are considered an essential service.

On the Ontario side, the whole province was put under the grey zone. Some of the conditions have changed and OGWIA has updated its quick reference chart to reflect those. You can download it below.

Some notable changes are that outdoor weddings have no limits – only that people are masked. Private outdoor gatherings (ie reception) are limited to 5 people. Food & beverage establishments are closed for both indoor and outdoor dinning. These restrictions go into effect from April 3 for four weeks.

The whole wedding industry is essentially shut down with these new restrictions.
